In vitro evaluation of the acaricidal activity of propolis against cattle ticks

Propolis is a natural substance that produced by bees and has been used since ancient times for its pharmacological properties. The cattle tick Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplusis responsible great economic losses breeding programs. aim of the present study was to evaluate in vitro effect propolis extracts on engorged female ticks. experiment performed at Uberaba IFTM. A completely randomized experimental design used, including eight treatments five replicates, with total 40 units, each consisting 10 females homogeneous weight. units were immersed alcoholic diluted distilled water following concentrations: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70%. regression analysis analyze relationship between extract concentration weight eggs laid (WEL), hatching percentage (HP), reproductive efficiency (RE). This demonstrates viability as an alternative control ticks, 70% being most efficientand effective controlling R. microplus under laboratory conditions.
